A New Haiti (ANH) was formed by Pastor Jean Telfort of Steele Creek Church of Charlotte (SCCC) after the 2010 earthquake, which left over 300,000 dead and 1.5 million homeless. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and faces challenges such as corruption, dependency on foreign aid, and a high literacy rate. ANH aims to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to the community and establish a genuine church that empowers and equips people to provide for their families through training, job creation, temporary housing, and education. Hope Christian Church, led by Telfort, focuses on spiritual discipleship, youth and adult education, and economic development. The church supports primary and secondary education, trade programs, and literacy classes for students and adults. ANH also works to lift up the poor and destitute in the community by supporting individuals and small businesses, bringing dignity and hope through economic development.
